Florida Gov. Scott’s shift away from Enterprise Florida concept gets noticed in Ohio

Wake up and good morning . I’m still trying to sort through the surprise of Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s canning John Adams and the decision to resurrect the state Department of Commerce (banished more than 10 years ago). Call me old fashioned but I had figured a governor ( photo, left ) who loves minimalist government would embrace the lack of a state agency (not create one) and like the public-private partnership structure that is Enterprise Florida. Here’s Scott’s letter seeking Adams’ resignation.

What’s kind of amusing, though, is that the neutering, for now, of Enterprise Florida already is influencing other states. Business First , a Columbus, Ohio-based business newspaper, cites the “element of irony” that Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s pet plan to privatize the Ohio Department of Development is drawing fire because of the reported shortcomings of Enterprise Florida . Here’s the Business First blog posting .

They can sit for you and your pets and you can do the same for them when they are away. There are thousand of people doing this so its catching on and becoming much easier to find that select group of people you need to help you when you have to leave your pets at home.

This new FREE community concept is not a business but it is saving people lots of money and lots of worry. The goal of this service is to help people find pet sitters for their pets even in areas where there are no commercial services available. One of the problems encountered by pet lovers on the internet is also a problem with this kind of service. The problem is the fear of animal abuse that has lead to self appointed regulators who make it impossible to use places like Craigslist to find pets and pet services. Advertise on Craigslist for a bunny and experience the wrath of the pet police who even use their own website to immediately flag you ads and make sure you cant find what you want. The same happens with pet services. Service providers flag anything that looks like competition and this one really gets them going…..so we need another way to get the word out and that is through word of mouth and articles and anything you can do that make people aware.
