Because, let’s face it, no matter how interesting your content is, if there isn’t anyone to read it then you are not going to make any money. For your site to be successful you need to offer attractive information to draw in readers, but this isn’t the only factor. The fact is, you could have fascinating content and yet see no visitors.

To get traffic flowing to your site, you have to think about how visitors find their way to your site. Where do you go when they need to find information? The answer is to search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. So, to get these people to visit your site, it needs to rank highly on search results pages. When these people search for information through the search engines and see your site among the top results, they will naturally click the result and visit your site!

The art of giving your blog or website a high ranking position on search result page is called search engine optimization (SEO). It’s quite a hard subject to master, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t simple but effective methods out there to allow your site to reach a decent page rank in the search results for particular keywords. The more complicated SEO methods are usually needed to fight for very competitive and general keywords such as “weight loss”, “mp3″,etc.

First, you have to look closely at the title you have chosen for your site. Since you are looking to optimize for a particular niche, you need to have a relevant phrase in your blog title. For example, a line like “The Latest Pet Fashion News Blog!” would work well for a blog on pet’s fashion.

Other than that, your page heading should also contain the term you are trying to optimize for at least once. The header is the bit of text in your code that is enclosed with the tags “<h1>” and “< /h1>”. This is very important as its used by search engines to determine your site’s content.

You should also try to include words specifically linked to your niche in your posts whenever possible. The frequent occurrence of that phrase in your blog will increase the chance of a search engine determining your site is relevant to that topic.

One final note, remember to always bare in mind that you’re writing for people who visit looking for information, so having too many keywords will put off readers. In fact, spamming a page with keywords can also be detrimental to your page ranking with search engines, so consider this when writing content.

Putting up a business is not a joke. Even if you only decide to put up a small business, you have to know that it also entails a lot of hard work as well as dedication from your part as the owner. You need to have not only the skills and knowledge but also the sheer passion and determination to succeed.

If you are thinking about putting up a small business, here are the seven steps you must do to start working your way towards the road of success.

Step One: Choose your business
The foremost step you have to do in the planning stage is to choose the type of business you want to engage in. In this step, it is crucial that you select something that you like and you know something about. This is because it is more likely for your business to succeed if you are passionate about it and if you know what you are doing.

For example, if you are an animal lover, and you have previous work experience in veterinarian clinics, then a pet shop would be a great idea for you. If you are a sports fanatic and you know so much about different sports, it would be a smart move to try out putting a sports store. If you love chocolates and you know how to make them yourself, a chocolate shop is the right kind of business for you.

Step Two: Think of a name and logo for your business
Your name and logo are the representations of your business so they should be relevant, easy to remember, and will stick to the minds of your customers or clients. It is always fun to think of creative names for your business but you should always remember that the name must be professional at the same time.

Step Three: Find a location
If your business requires people traffic, like if you have a restaurant or a retail shop, then it is a must that you choose a location that will work best for your business. Choose an area where your target market will most likely be at. Select a place that is safe and has a friendly ambience so that your business will have a good reputation. Remember, it is more probable for a customer to come back to your place if you have good products or services as well as an accessible location.

Step Four: Formulate a business plan
Your business plan should contain valuable information about your business including company description, goals of the business, marketing strategies, methods for financing and many others. It should be detailed, organized and should be able to illustrate your competency as a business owner. This is important because if you plan on taking out a business loan, a business plan is one of the major requirements.

Step Five: Develop your financial methods
Another important step in planning for your small business is to plan the ways on how to obtain capital. You can take out a business loan, use business credit, or use your personal savings.

Step Six: Plan your hiring
It is imperative that you develop a standardized hiring procedure that will include intensive interviews and critical employment background checks. Background checks are important because they provide essential information such as educational background, employment history, driving records, medical records, criminal records and many others.

Step Seven: Develop your marketing strategy
Study carefully your different options when it comes to distributing and marketing your products or services and choose the methods that will be most feasible and most effective for you and your business.

We cannot deny the fact that most large businesses have humble beginnings. This is why as a small business owner, you should strive hard to make your business grow and flourish.

For more tips and information about driving records, check out http://www.backgroundcheckscenter.com/2008/12/22/employment-background-checks/.

Speaking is powerful. There are countless opportunities for you as a small business leader to speak to grow your business. Imagine the marketing power of being able to address an audience of potential customers all in one place at one time. This is really extremely focused and targeted marketing. Small business owners need to speak to grow their business.

What does this mean? Well, imagine a local association meeting, mixer or major community service event. You could be a speaker at that event. You would provide a professional, and relevant message to the audience, give them some valuable information that they could use, and promote your business at the same time.

For example, if you sold business insurance, you might speak at a Chamber of Commerce breakfast mixer about the need to protect yourself from risk exposure in the marketplace. You could give stories of people who have unfortunately lost their business and damaged their family relationships because they had not properly protected themselves. The members would receive a better understanding of why they would need protection and you would be seen as a potential expert and source of that protection.

Realize that this is business development. This is not a commercial. If you speak for thirty minutes or so at a major function and you simply advertise your product or service for the entire time, this strategy will not work. This must be a free informational or training session with solid value for the listeners. Do not waste the time of your audience. Be genuine, sincere, and real in the speaking engagements. A thirty-minute commercial is not genuine.

Secondly, you need to be, at least decent at speaking. You do not need to be a master entertainer, but you cannot be a living substitute for sleeping pills either. People should have a good experience from listening to you. With stories and comical real-life examples this can often be accomplished. Do not try to a comedian however. Remember to be genuine. If you are not a good comedian, fine, do not be a comedian. If are good at telling stories, great tell stories.

Lastly, speak at the right venues. A parenting conference would be a great place to talk about the value of your tutoring program. If you own a pet obedience school however, your topic might be less valuable to the attendees. How can you learn where to speak? I have a great tip for you! Please visit www.SpeakerLeadsAndTips.com to sign up for a FREE speaking leads enewsletter. You can pick and choose what is appropriate for you, your field, and your geographic region. These are FREE speaking leaders sent directly to your email box.

Remember, you can grow your small business through speaking!
